About TED
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives. The two annual TED Conferences invite the world's leading thinkers and doers to speak for 18 minutes or less. Many of these talks are then made available, free, at TED.com.
An Idea
TED is a non-profit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds- Technology, Entertainment and Design.
Success
Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with two annual conferences - the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TED Global Conference in Edinburgh UK each summer.
Award Winner
TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize.
About TEDx
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)
Theme: Aswattha
The Inverted Tree of life
“There is something illusory about this world; what we see is the reflection of reality.”
The inverted Aswattha tree has roots upwards and branches downwards. It signifies that the branches are
nourished by the Gunas, which are the roots; these infinite roots spread in the form of action in this human
world, which fruits in the form of branches. The reality is the Gunas, the action, the karma, whereas the
world is Maya. With Aswattha, we tend to portray the tree as eternal in the real world, not in the
illusionary world. So, let's talk about the reality of this world, the Gunas, which we incorporate into our
lives.
The inverted tree also signifies that the true nature of branches is to grow upwards, but it is not. This
metaphor explains that we are going southwards, away from the intended path. Due to its action, humanity has
turned the tree upside down. We must bring ourselves back on the path of knowledge and attend to the eternal
truth. The upward growth will only come when we leave the Maya and accept the eternal reality.

Vishal Malhotra

Jaskirat Kaur
Jaskirat Kaur is the head of International Business Development and Marketing at Machani Group. Jaskirat has been at the forefront of the marketing and revenue generation of the group's AI & Robotics business, Machani Robotics. Jaskirat graduated in Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science from IIT Bombay in 2014 and completed her post-graduation MBA from IIM Bangalore. Jaskirat has pursued modelling professionally and was the runner-up in the national pageant 'Gladrags Miss India' in 2013.
